What is a concurrent connection?

A connection is a measure of the number of users that are using your app or site simultaneously. This isn't the same as the total number of visitors to your site or the total number of users of your app. It's any open network connection to our servers, including streaming REST API requests. All other REST API requests don't count towards your connection limits. In our experience, 1 concurrent corresponds to roughly 1,400 monthly visits.

Our Hacker Plan has a hard limit on the number of connections. All of the paid Firebases, however, are “burstable”, which means there are no hard caps on usage.

What is the limit on the FREE Plan?

The free plan has a hard cap at 50 concurrent connections. When the 51st user tries to connect, the API will throw an error and any additional connections will fail. Our paid plans have no hard caps on usage.

Can I see my usage metrics?

Yes. For detailed analytics, head over to your Firebase dashboard and click on the “Analytics” tab on the left.

What is the difference between data storage and hosting storage?

Data storage is the total amount of data stored in your Firebase database, and hosting storage is the total size of the files you've deployed to Firebase Hosting. Note that you can use Firebase to store data without hosting your site on Firebase Hosting.

What if I exceed my paid plan limits?

Because we use 95th percentile billing, you won't be charged for your overages 5% of the time (about 1.5 days each month). If you exceed your limits for more than 5% of the month, the following overage fees will be added to the base price of your monthly bill:

  • Candle Plan: $0.25 each additional connection.
    $2.50 each additional GB of Data Transfer.
  • Bonfire Plan: $0.175 each additional connection.
    $1.75 each additional GB of Data Transfer.
  • Blaze Plan: $0.15 each additional connection.
    $1.50 each additional GB of Data Transfer.
  • Inferno Plan: $0.125 each additional connection.
    $1.25 each additional GB of Data Transfer.

Can I upgrade, downgrade, and cancel?

Yes. You can change your Firebase size or even cancel at any time from your account panel. Note that we don't provide prorated refunds for downgrades or cancellations.

What is the difference between data transfer and hosting transfer?

Data transfer is the amount of data you're transferring in and out of your Firebase database at one time. Hosting transfer is the bandwidth associated with loading files from your Firebase hosted site.

What kind of support will I receive?

All paid Firebases come with email and phone support from Firebase staff during US Pacific business hours. Additional levels of support, including 24x7 phone support, are available to Enterprise customers.
